for Algerian Families
Algerian under 25 years of age comprises the population with the highest risk of
domestic violence, especially if they try to leave an abusive relationship. Young women are at the greatest risk of
assault by intimate partners, as well as spousal homicide and sexual assault.1
It is due to this fact that Algerian Ettaraki Club
has, since its founding in 2007, provided a variety of supports for families and prisoners in their crisis. These supports
are intended to assist all Algerians across Europe in crisis and especially UK through our volenteers in
Kingston Upon Thames UK-Honslow-Surbiton Streatham-Epsom-New Malden- London - Leeds-Birmigham-Bristol- with fully
cooperation with the **UNHCR-RED CROSS**and all Algerian representatives communities in Europe Gain the
tools they need to overcome violence, move forward and prosper.
Understanding the many issues which immigrant families – and particularly immigrant women –
face has been grasped by AEC’s
Chief Executive President Mr.Zahir Serrai, who is an immigrant
from Germany to the United Kingdom and has over fifteen years of experience working with Algerian
Communities around the European Union, the objective of AEC’s supports for families in crisis is to provide counselling and support services
to families and/or individual family members in crisis, whether they themselves have experienced abuse or are children who
have witnessed domestic abuse, AEC offers flexible programs that help families create a healthy environment
in which their children can grow and develop. Parents, children, and extended family members are all encouraged to participate.
AEC provides individual and family advocacy in English. French and Spanish Its focus is to facilitate
healthy intervention during a family conflict, empowering individuals to live a life free of violence. A key aspect
of AEC’s supports for families in crisis is to educate those in need about their rights and to help them obtain
information about community and government support services.AEC’s supports for families in crisis focus on : About your Kids ? Parenting support programAEC understands that being a teenager maybe a difficult time for many because they
are changing, both emotionally and physically. In addition, youth who are recent immigrants face additional challenges
in adapting to new customs and traditions, and in making new friends. As a result, they may feel confused or depressed,
causing them to isolate themselves from their family and other supports. They may become confrontational with their
parents and peers or engage in a variety of negative behaviours. What about your Kids? Is a parenting support program
that educates parents of youth between the ages of 13 and 18 years old about youth-related issues and provides active support
to parents through workshops on stress and anger management, age-appropriate discipline, parent leadership, communication
and depression?Participants receive support to guide them
in the implementation of the ideas and concepts discussed during the workshops. They benefit from having a support infrastructure
to rely on and to assist them in their active and positive integration into the community AEC
will provide sponsors with a full report on the implementation of this program including statistics of youth attending, number
of activities, feedback, etc. Also, AEC provides a gym for sport activities. What you should know about your future in Europe? Only INTEGRATION and not as INTEGRATION.
Youth Connection youth support program
The
objective of this program is to create a support structure for youth in the neighbourhood. It offers one-on-one personalized
support and counselling to youth between the ages of 13 and 18 years old, providing education and counselling as concern such
areas as stress and anger management, negative peer pressure, bullying, family violence, self-esteem, difficulties in relationships,
and depression.
AEC
organizes four annual events – Multicultural Annual Women’s Event, Health Fair, Youth United Against Violence
Concert and Annual General Meeting and Fundraising festivals and events like Gala and exhibitions – that highlight its
mandate to raise awareness of violence in immigrant families and to support families in crisis. In addition to its supports for families in crisis, AEC offers other services to immigrant families,
including English as a Second language classes. After school program, and specialized programs for newcomer youth to help them acquire
